Happy National Mud Pack Day!

Happy National Mud Pack Day Beauties! I kinda feel like I have my own special holiday! A day I can wear my mud facial mask proudly and actually be celebrating something. How cool is that?  I’m ready to pack on a nutrient enriched mud mask and slap one on my husband’s face as well. Ladies, don’t think this is just a day for you, guys can get a facial mud pack mask too! Mud was once the rage for facials and is still very popular.

National Mud Pack Day is a day to get a mud pack facial. Actually, you can put mud anywhere on your body but the face is the most common. Mud is full of nutrients and minerals which your body quickly absorbs and are said to reduce facial oil and acne as well as reduce facial lines and wrinkles. Mud also helps trap bacteria and acts as a mild exfoliant, getting rid of dead skin cells leaving your face smooth with a glow.

FYI: A mud pack is a quick treatment for bee stings. Use, if necessary, when you’re hiking or until you can get a place to be treated for stings of bees and wasps.

Why not enjoy a spa day in the comfort of your own home? Who doesn’t want to relieve stress after a long week? Why not relieve it with a mug or glass of mulled cider (today is also National Mulled Cider Day), and a mud pack treatment while soothing tunes from mp3 player get you in the perfect mood.

My favorite Mud Mask is the Epoch® Glacial Marine Mud. It’s a skin-purifying estuary treasure! Draw out impurities, remove dead skin cells, and nurture skin with more than 50 skin beneficial minerals, including zinc and sea botanicals. Legend has it that indigenous peoples may have tried to use this special mud to make pottery. They were unsuccessful because of its fine particle size, but noticed their hands were softer and smoother. Today, Glacial Marine Mud is homogenized to produce a highly absorbent mud with impeccable consistency. Experience the renewing benefits of this mud mask by pampering your face! It’s easy to use and inexpensive. To purchase mask, click on this pic.
Epoch® Glacial Marine MudEasy to use:
Apply a generous layer of mud to skin, avoiding mouth and eye areas. Let mud dry 15 to 20 minutes or until it turns a light aquamarine color. Rinse thoroughly with warm water. Use two to three times a week for best results!

About the mask:
Effectively removes impurities and dead skin cells without affecting normal cells.
Less flaking when dried due to presence of sea botanicals.
Minimal water separation.
Rich in minerals.
Great for all-over body use.
Low-density, flexible tube lets you get all the product out so none goes to waste.
Make this a special day by buying a gift certificate or scheduling a facial for your loved one. Make sure to tell them its not that they need it. Rather, its because it is comforting, and will make them feel good and their skin beautiful!

July 28, 2013 is National Milk Chocolate Day! Chocoholics unite—it’s National Milk Chocolate Day!How is milk chocolate different from other chocolates? It’s a mix of cocoa solid and either dry or condensed milk. While dark chocolate is traditionally used as a baking ingredient, this sweet treat is used to make chocolate candy bars, hot chocolate, and many delicious desserts.Did you know that chocolate actually has mood-enhancing benefits? That’s right—chocolate can make you happy! This is due to the fact that it contains a stimulant called theobromine and a compound called anandamide. Now that’s a reason to celebrate! Today, enjoy milk chocolate your favorite way. Happy Milk Chocolate Day!
Enjoy some chocolate goodness while you treat your skin to antioxidants!

Here’s a DIY recipe:

Ingredients:
1 tsp cocoa powder
1 tsp yogurt
1 tsp honey

1: Blend the cocoa powder with the honey and yogurt. Cocoa powder can be difficult to blend, so be patient with this step. Keep mixing until the mixture looks like melted chocolate.

2: Clean your face with lukewarm water. Dab dry and then apply the mask evenly all over your face except the eye and lip areas. Relax for 15 minutes and let the mask do it’s magic.

3: Wash off with lukewarm water and dab dry. Apply your favorite moisturizer. You’re done!

*Using food ingredients on your skin will provide similar benefits to when they are eaten, but there are always some minor differences. Here are the benefits that you can expect from this DIY chocolate yogurt mask:

Cocoa: Brimming with antioxidants, cocoa can help fight sun damage and provide you with anti-aging benefits. How can you refuse a chocolate without calories?

Yogurt: Because yogurt contains lactic acid, it acts as a natural exfoliant when applied onto the skin. The zinc found in yogurt can also fight pesky blemishes and may even shrink the appearance of large pores.

Honey: It has been popping up in various beauty products recently because of its ability to calm inflammation, soften dry, cracked skin and aid in skin healing and regeneration.

Organic Chocolate-Honey Facial

I’ll admit to having a bit of a sweet tooth. Two of my favorite sweet flavors are chocolate and honey. What’s not to love? They are both a glimpse of heaven when you taste them. With Valentine’s Day coming up, chocolate is kind of a big deal. So I thought it be fun to come up with a unique facial treatment with some of my favorite ingredients. My goal for your skin after I give you this delicious facial to provide powerful protein filled anti-oxidants, soften, reduce wrinkles, nourish & hydrate your skin, along with gently removing dead skin cells for a more rejuvenated tone. The two main recipes of this facial is the exfoliant and the masque, I will gladly share those recipes with you after my facial special. For now, I will go over a few of the ingredients in my mixtures, why I chose them, and what they do for your skin.

Chocolate:chocolate

Cocoa is very nourishing to the skin. It contains calcium, potassium, sodium, magnesium, iron, zinc, copper, vitamins A1, B1, B2, C, D, E, phosphorous & chromium. In addition to this, it also contains a polyphenol called epicatechin which is a natural antiseptic, anti-inflammatory & anti-oxidant that helps to guard cells from free radical damage which causes skin to age.
Basically – the higher the cocoa content the more polyphenol, the healthier it is for you on the inside and out. (This is why I am using an organic cocoa) Some people believe that chocolate causes acne but according to dermatologists acne is caused to those people who consume chocolate which has milk in it and not the chocolate itself.

Honey:honey

Honey has antibacterial and antiseptic properties, which helps in fighting acne and pimples. It reduces infection and is very effective home remedy to treat acne. When honey is diluted with water, it produces hydrogen peroxide. Hydrogen peroxide is an antimicrobial agent and is used as a mild antiseptic; therefore it’s useful in treating cuts, wounds, and abrasions. Used in facials, it hydrates as it cleanses, because it soak ups impurities from the pores of the skin, leaving your skin clear, clean, and radiantly moisturized. Since honey is enriched with antioxidants, it’s a natural remedy to prevent wrinkles and fight skin aging and damage.

Baking Soda: bakingsoda

Baking soda is great for breakouts; it can loosen tough skin around blackheads and soothe inflammation around pimples. Baking soda also “calms” the skin. In the very topmost layers of cells in the epidermis, the tough outer layer of the skin, small amounts of bicarbonate from the baking soda can enter the skin. The bicarbonate encourages the transportation of sodium into these cells. Their metabolisms slow down so they go into their normal life cycle, dying about 21 days after they are formed in the basal layers of the skin. As the top layers of skin flake away, newer and healthier skin cells can come to the surface. They add more natural color to the skin, and they loosen the skin around tight pores.

Oatmeal:oatmeal

Oatmeal is one of the best natural treatments for dry skin. It can be used to make a gentle and very effective natural skin cleanser, facial scrub, and soothing facial mask. Oatmeal helps to relieve dryness, restoring natural moisture balance to aid in healing minor irritations due to the many causes and sources of skin sensitivities. Oatmeal actually absorbs and removes surface dirt and impurities while providing very gentle exfoliation, leaving skin smooth, soft, and clean, without irritating and drying out skin. The best thing about oatmeal in my opinion is it effectively removes dead skin cells, to reveal smoother looking skin and provides the bonus of a natural, healthy glow. So now that you know what all the ingredients used in my organic chocolate honey facial do, let’s get you into my warm spa bed and have you enjoy all these yummy goodies! Spa la la

  • Birch leaves
  • Yolk
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 2-3 drops rosemary oil

Hair Mask for Dry or Color Treated Hair

Green Tea Hair Mask

This homemade hair mask is very effective for stimulating healthy hair growth if you suffer from thinning hair and hair loss. Use this treatment three to four times per week to create long, thick and luxurious hair.

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 tablespoons fresh green tea (strong)
  • 1 tablespoon mustard powder
  • 1 egg yolk

Mix all ingredients together until you reach a creamy consistency.  If it becomes too thick, add more green tea.

APPLICATION

Part hair down the center and apply mixture. Cover hair with a shower cap or cling wrap. Leave in for approximately 15 to 25 minutes. Your head will feel slightly warm, as the mustard helps to increase the blood circulation to the scalp. Rinse thoroughly, then shampoo and condition as normal.

OLIVE OIL MASK (for coarse to medium hair) : Whisk up 5 tablespoons of olive oil (it doesn’t matter which sort) with 2 eggs. Massage thoroughly into your hair and then cover it with plastic wrap or a shower hat. Your body heat will help the oil to penetrate. Leave for a minimum of 30 minutes and then shampoo out. Rinse well.

COCONUT CREAM MASK (for medium to coarse hair) : Soften a large chunk of coconut oil cream in your hands and massage into hair. Wrap your head in a warm towel and leave it on for an hour. Wash out with a gentle shampoo.

MILK & HONEY MASK (for fine hair) : Mix a tablespoon of honey in half a cup of full fat milk. Apply to your hair and leave for 15 minutes. Wash out with a mild shampoo.

Acne Info

Acne prone skin can be a nightmare. Have you ever felt so frustrated that no matter how well you eat, what you use and what you take, it seems to have a mind of its own? This is because the skin is a unique organ, which requires simplicity and consistency of action to get it to finally clear. Many articles and books have been written and many lotions and potions have been created to address this issue. Maybe this bit of info will help you clear your skin.

Acne is caused by an over stimulated oil gland that has become infected. What over stimulates the oil glands? And why do they become infected? Excessive oil production can be caused by hormones, adrenal function, liver and digestive function and diet. The skin will only use the oils you eat in your diet. It is important that you only eat lighter, plant-based oils so they flow freely though the oil glands and decongest what is blocking them.

Congesting foods:
Animal fats (especially red meats and pork)
Dairy products (cheese, yoghurt, butter)
Commercial sweets (anything baked, bought, with refined sugars, white flours and hidden fats)

When the adrenal glands are stimulated it creates a stress response in the body. This causes the oil glands to flow excessively and also warm up the body temperature, irritating sensitive skin. Any redness, spots or blemishes suggest a sensitive skin type and a “hot” condition according to traditional Chinese medicine.

Stimulating foods and substances for the skin:
Chili, curry, spicy dishes
Alcohol
Caffeine
Nicotine
Oranges and strawberries

You need to stay away from these foods and substances for at least 95% of the time for as long as it takes for your skin cells to turn.
